I turned the car around and arrived at our unexpected food adventure.
This small, and pretty empty, diner served up some great grub to help us on our Black Friday shopping trip.
JE had a ham, fried egg and cheese sandwich (under $5).
His sandwich was exactly what he needed to deal with anticipated screaming children and crowds this day after Thanksgiving. The sammy had a big piece of ham which exceeded the white bread it came on. Yum.
I had scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast and a side of gravy. Diner gravy is the best.
It was absolutely delicious and a complete throwback to any small down diner you've ever been to. It was a big serving of hashbrowns that went very well with the side of gravy. The gravy had the pre-requisite sausage and pepper in it which made it that much better. The eggs and sausage were good too. I always like the triangle cut buttered toast and the little packets of grape or strawberry jelly you can put on them. Nostaglia relived and eaten.
A big semi pulled up and the drive came in. He represented some sort of corporate restaurant supply company. So now we know the fries are frozen as they go to the basement.
Service is good, homey and friendly. We both enjoyed our time here.
Town Topic is also known for their hamburgers and has been around for years. You can check them out at 6018 Johnson Drive Mission, KS 66202.
