I need to step back and give some back story here. This place used to be called Las Chiquitas back in the day and we vowed never to return there after some serious dining neglect from a visit. JE and I decided to try Las Chiquitas on a Friday night and it was really busy. We were seated in about 10 minutes and put in a our drink order (two sodas). We got our sodas and ordered food. As people came and went, other groups of new people were seated around us. We waited...and waited...and waited and still no food. After figuring out we had been there for an hour without food while newly seated people were eating, we decided to leave. I went up to the bar to pay for two sodas and told them we had been waiting for a hour without food and we would never be back.
Luckily, it's not Las Chiquitas anymore.
One item from the wedding reception I remember is fideo. I'd never had fideo before and I thought it was delicious. I like to call it "Mexican spaghetti soup". I was lucky today because they actually had it. I ordered a chicken burrito, carne asada taco and a side of fideo.
The fideo was as good as I remembered it from the wedding. The street style carne asada taco was seasoned well. The chicken burrito was really good and the chicken had a nice flavor to it.
Dee decided on two ground beef soft tacos.
These soft tacos were huge and she didn't leave hungry.
Kim ordered two carne asada soft tacos which was a lunch special for $7.50. It came with rice and beans but she's not a big bean person so she nixed the beans.
Kim said she enjoyed her lunch as well.
We all had a good lunch and we weren't ignored at Los Tules. It has great food and some good lunch specials. Check them out if you're near downtown Kansas City. They're located on 1656 Broadway Blvd.

Thank you for the wedding props!
