As we were seated, we were immediately asked if we had visited before. Upon our "no" response, our waitress pointed out the daily special, and the two sauces on the table. One sauce was their homemade barbeque sauce (it's good) and a Carolina mustard. If I remember right, it was a somewhat spicy mustard that would have gone great with fries. In case you don't like their sauces, they have a "sauce bar" for all the other sauces like Gates, Arthur Bryant, etc that you can find around town.
The daily lunch special for $8.95 is a regular sandwich with your choice of one or two meats, a side and a drink. We both ordered the daily lunch special.
I have to say this place must be the fastest service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Not five minutes after our order, our food was delivered. Granted, it's barbeque but dang that was fast. I didn't even get a chance to get all my notes in about our order before it came out. Rhonda, the waitress, could tell we were shocked and said, "the food comes out really fast here." That ain't no lie. It was faster than a McDonalds and much much better.
JE got brisket and pulled pork with a side of potato salad.
I ordered brisket and turkey with a side of cheesy corn.
We both enjoyed our orders. The meat here is served dry so you can sauce it the way you want and with what you want. The meat had great flavor. The potato salad was good and the cheesy corn was even better than Jackstack or The Stack.
Although she had already delivered our checks, Rhonda asked if anyone wanted dessert. She listed what they had and said they had just made a vanilla cheesecake with brownie bits. Sold!
The cheesecake was so good I could have slapped someone. JE didn't even get a bite (not like he wanted one though).
