Admittedly, JE eats here at least once a week and always tells me how good it is, but I haven't been to the Brooksider in at least 10 years. How did we decide on this location so close to home? JE put at least 15 places in a hat and this is what was drawn.
It's a typical bar with a stage for a band, tons of flat screen tvs showing different sporting events, and a beer ball (think Skee Ball) machine where you can win a free domestic beer if you get enough points. I didn't get enough points. Boo.
JE loves the Cuban sandwich, the tenderloin, the Ruben and the patty melt, but he's been wanting to try the Trailblazer burger for a long time so that's what he ordered. The Trailblazer is a fresh formed burger topped with bacon, chili, and BBQ sauce on Texas toast. It came with a good amount of tots and a dill pickle spear.
He was really happy with his decision and from the bite I had, it was delicious. This is a sandwich that will fill you up. The beef was seasoned well, the bacon was crisp and the chili had a good flavor. And as mentioned before, they don't skimp on the tots. Napoleon Dynamite would be in heaven.
After looking over several different items, I settled on the steak sandwich with tots. The sandwich came with a grilled KC strip steak, honey mustard mayo, red onions, provolone cheese, tomato, shredded lettuce (I'm not so freaked out about shredded lettuce like some) on ciabatta bread.
I did enjoy my sandwich, but I think I would have preferred removing the honey mustard mayo and putting some kind of steak sauce on it instead...or no sauce at all. The steak was tender and juicy and the sandwich was quickly devoured.
Go for lunch. This place get crazy later at night. You might even see the Mayor's son, KJ, causing some trouble there. Run and tell that.
